I love watercolour. There is something about it that makes me feel inexplicably excited inside when I think about it, when it see it and when I see paintings completed by it. It does something to me.

I remember using watercolour when I was a young student and at the time, it was just paint to me. I don't know when my love of watercolour developed exactly but it almost felt like it was sudden and at some point I realised it was my favourite medium (this doesn't mean in anyway that I am any good at it but because I love it I have that added will to use it despite that daunting fact that it is hard to control)

There is certainly one thing that is unique about it - its transparency, to me, that is the beauty of it. I love seeing the texture of the paper through it, it gives me the satisfaction that I adore. I like the challenge that I can't mock it up or it will clearly show, it makes me think twice before putting a loaded paint brush on a prepared piece of paper while having to remain confident. I just love it, I cannot describe it.

I stopped painting watercolour for over ten years and have just started again recently and used it for fashion illustrations and portraits, etc which is completely new to me. I love it though and will continue to practice and explore and hopefully learn a lot more from it.

Painting and drawing again feels just like coming back home, finally...
